DESIGN-MAKE-PLAY STEAM CAMP

Our DMP Spring Camp is full of activities for curious STEAM (Science, Technology, Arts, and Mathematics) learners. Join us at our brand-new location at The Shipyards.  Most activities come in stages that cascade on top of each other following our philosophy of Design, Make, and Play.

ACTIVITIES:

  • Design and 3D print your own light up toy

  • Build and code an LED Clock Project using Arduino

  • Bridge building competition

  • Create animations using digital tools and clay

Ages 13-16

March 22 - 29

WORLD OF ROBOTS (ROBOTICS CAMP)

Students will be introduced to mechanical and electrical engineering and software design for robotics. They will do this by building a linear-motion device.

This spring camps follows the thinking process of:

Learning > Building > Solving

All supplies are included

June 26 to August 23rd

DESIGN CHALLENGE- CATAPULT / LAUNCHER

These aren’t your “run-of-the-mill” catapults out of popsicle sticks and glue – these are catapults designed to last and taken to a whole new level using custom designed 3D printed parts, custom designed laser cut wood, and fasteners.

Students will learn the ins & outs of Computer Aided Design (CAD), measurements, potential & kinetic energy, pivots & torque, design thinking, and other Applied Design Skills and Technologies (ADST) related to the BC Curriculum!

DESIGN CHALLENGE - ELECTRIC CAR

The first electric vehicles were built as early as the 19th century yet it wasn’t until the 21st century that the electric car would really take off - thanks Tesla. In this one week adventure, we will be designing, building, and competing with our own electric cars utilizing our maker lab!

> Highly recommended for students that enjoyed the engineering activities of our STEAM SAMPLER camp. Technical difficulty is at a beginner level and no matter what the outcome our top priority is to have fun and challenge ourselves.

DESIGN CHALLENGE - ROCK  THE BOAT

It’s a-boat time we raced a boat load of boats at design make play. In this one week adventure, we will be designing, building, and competing with our own 3D printed boat utilizing the fabrication services of our maker lab!

Kids will get to use 3D printers, laser cutters, elastics and springs to design and build their own speed boats with the guidance of instructors and compete in a number of competition challenges: Water-You-Racing-For, Sinking Ships, Straight-and-Narrow and more.

DESIGN CHALLENGE - WALKER BOT

You’ve might have seen videos of the Boston Dynamics Robots. These robots don’t use wheels to get around, but instead move around like bipeds or quadrupeds using feet!

In this one week adventure, we will be designing, building, and competing with our own walking robots utilizing the fabrication services of our maker lab! Kids will get to use 3D printers, laser cutters, servos, and Arduinos to design and build their own walking bots with the guidance of instructors and compete in a number of competition challenges: U walk, Sumo Bots, No Terrain No Gain, and more.
